MAIN UNO BAPTIST CHURCH
Our History
Main Uno Baptist Church was built in August of nineteen hundred and twenty – two. Reverend Albert Porter, who was the grandfather of our now, Mother of the Church, Deaconess Christine Porter Page, extended an invitation to Rev. Uriah Johnson to preach and a tent meeting was held across the highway. Rev. Johnson and members were inspired by the Lord to step out on faith and build this church.
This church has been blessed with some dynamic, devoted, God sent leadership. The past pastors that served this church were strong in the Lord. Rev. Johnson served faithfully for fifteen years Rev. James Ford was pastor for two years. Rev. Edward Stewart served us faithfully for twenty- nine years. Rev. Chassie Gibbs served as pastor for 14 months. In 1968 we installed Reverend Charles H. Sims and he served as our pastor for twenty-five years and two months.
In 1997, Rev. Darnell M. Lundy, accepted our call to serve as our Supply Pastor for a period of one year. On the sixteenth day of September, in the year of nineteen hundred and ninety-seven, Reverend Darnell Marcellus Lundy agreed to be our pastor. He was installed as pastor of this church on February 28, 1998 with church services every Sunday and Communion once a month. This church is Ministry focused.
